Joyce is a native New Yorker who recently moved to Toronto at the end of 2022, after meeting her husband in Canada. She joined Healing Wings Foundation as their new Executive Director on February 1, 2023.
Joyce was a practicing lawyer in the United States, and obtained her law degree (J.D) from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 2013. Following this, she moved to Washington D.C. and continued her graduate studies at the American University Washington College of Law where she obtained an L.LM. in the Program on Law and Government, with a concentration in Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice, and a specialization in Immigration Law and Policy. She is licensed to practice in the state of Minnesota.
Joyce was an Associate Attorney for a small busy law office in New York where she handled the firm’s immigration caseload in 2021. She is deeply committed to social justice and protecting the rights of the vulnerable and disadvantaged, with a previous career focus on improving justice for orphaned children, domestic violence victims and immigrant communities.
She also has extensive experience working in the Middle East, specifically Egypt; where her parents are from. Joyce also spent time volunteering in east Africa through her church community and other charitable organizations during her undergraduate studies.
Joyce is a proud aunt of two, and enjoys traveling, being outdoors in nature and serving youth in her church community during her spare time. She is excited to lead Healing Wings Foundation in this new role and into its next phase of growth, as they advance their missions and projects in 2023 and beyond. She is also passionate about serving new demographics throughout Canada, such as, First Nations, Veterans, First Responders, and Shelter Youth.
