Healing Wings foundation through the summer 2021 Community Care Campaign, raised $2,000 for Yellow Brick House a York-region based organization empowering abused women and children. All the funds were used to purchase immediate needs for Yellow Brick House, and included essential items from Clothing (clothing and shoes), Baby products (diapers, baby formula), Household Goods (plates, cleaning supply) as well as gift cards to grocery stores.

Background
Yellow Brick House is a place for abused women and children. Every woman’s story with Yellow Brick House begins with the courage to leave a dangerous—even deadly—home. They share stories of terror, despair, and tears. But the real story of Yellow Brick House is about empowering women and children to rebuild their lives and we give a voice to the untold stories of violence in our community, raising awareness about the need for change, and moving our community forward to end of violence against women and kids.
For the past few months during the pandemic, Yellow Brick House has conducted extensive renovations in its two (2) shelters to comply with regulatory requirement on spacing and common area to respect social distancing. The marketing team is also actively updating the website to include multi-lingual support such as Russian, Arabic, Mandarin, Farsi and Urdu as most of the women and children who turned to YBH are immigrants who speak English as their second language.
Why this is important
Healing Wings Foundation and Yellow Brick House not only located 10min away from each other, but both organizations are focused on empowerment, social supports and are firm believers of the benefits of multi-cultural ecosystem to drive inclusion.
Healing Wings Foundation will continue to partner with Yellow Brick House on expanded scope of services, that may include resource sharing, e.g. daycare facilities, as well as mutual participation of each others key events, e.g. Walk for fundraising, Youth Programs etc.
